Primary analysis a double-blind, cluster randomized trial containing micronutrient powder supplementation Ghanaian aged 6 35 months found no difference risk between intervention placebo groups. Here, we performed secondary data assess impact long-term prophylactic fortificant on deficiency anaemia subjects. This population-based randomized-cluster involved 1958 months, identified at home able eat semi-solid foods. The group (n = 967) received daily dose 12.5 mg elemental (as ferrous fumarate), vitamin A (400 ?g), ascorbic acid (30 mg) zinc (5 mg). 991) similar but without iron. Of 1904 (97.2%) who remained end intervention, significantly higher haemoglobin 0.0001) serum ferritin 0.0002) levels than group. Soluble transferrin receptor more saturated among from compared non-iron 0.012). status improved 0.03). Continued routine use reduced pre-school living rural Ghana’s endemic area.
